(Research in brief)

INDI(Imaging Study for Neurodegenerative Disorder) lab conducts imaging studies using MRI and PET on degenerative dementia diseases such as Alzheimer's type cognitive disorder, cortical ischemic cognitive disorder and frontal lobe dementia. In-depth research targeting  clinically diagnosed patients is conducted, which is to acquire structural images using MRI and molecular images using PET from the patients and to discover and evaluate biomarkers by the analysis of the patient images obtained. To this end, we are using NRI’s high-tech imaging equipment such as ultra-magnetic MRI, polyatomic MRI and high-resolution PET. Recently, we have undertaken an imaging-genomics study that combines genetic analysis to the images. In summary, my Lab’s final goal is to reveal pathogenetic mechanisms of dementia disease and to develop image biomarkers with high sensitivity and specificity that enable early diagnosis and objectively correct evaluation of treatment effects of degenerative brain diseases.
