그리고 2018년 8월에 인천 송도에 Brain Valley라는 건물이 지어지면서 임상뇌과학연구부는 구월동 건물에 남고 영상공학연구부와 방사성 진단치료제개발부가 Brain Valley로 이사를 하였다. 그래서 본 연구원은 구월동의 본원, Brain Valley의 분원으로 나누어지게 되었다. 2020년 1월 기초뇌과학연구부가 생겼는데 이 연구부 소속 교수들은 이길여 암당뇨연구원에 상주하기 때문에 이곳에서 연구를 수행하기로 하였다.

The NRI was established in 2004 and moved to a new building built in Guwol-dong, Incheon in 2006. In August 2018, a building called Brain Valley was built in Songdo, Incheon. Among the four Divisions of NRI, the Division of Clinical Neuroscience remained in the Guwol-dong Building and the Division of Biomedical Imaging and the Division of Radiological Diagnostics and Therapeutics Development moved to Brain Valley in Sondo. So the NRI was divided into the main branch of Guwol-dong and the branch of Brain Valley. In January 2020, the Division of Basic Neuroscience was established. Professors of this Division decided to conduct research at Lee Gil Ya Diabetes & Cancer Institute in Sondo because their labs are at the Institute.
